About
I am very intentional with each patient.
I am a doctoral prepared, dual certified (Family and Psychiatric) Nurse practitioner with 14 years of experience both in the clinical setting and academia. I provide a safe space for my patients due to the sensitivity and vulnerability of each diverse patient. My treatment approach is first and foremost a collaborative patient centered, incorporating a holistic, culturally diverse and sensitive approach.
Your first session will be a psychiatric evaluation which can last between 60- 90 minutes. During this time, we will review your intake and health history, before formulating a treatment plan, including medication if needed, based on the diagnosis. This will be a collaborative process between the patient and provider.
I am very intentional with each patient. I treat everyone with respect and strive to listen attentively to each patient. My treatment plans are individualized. I make sure that each patient knows that this is their journey, and I am here to support and walk through it with them.

Psychiatry allows people struggling to manage mental conditions or disorders to get access to medications that will make daily functioning easier, as well as work through any mental factors that might be causing or worsening their condition. Though medications can’t cure mental disorders, medication can make symptoms more manageable, making the process of psychotherapeutic treatment easier and more effective. Psychiatric care can be available through in-person psychiatry and online psychiatry, depending on where you live and your own preferences. However, psychiatric providers at Thriveworks in Columbus, OH specifically offer online psychiatry to their clients.
A therapist has an education specifically rooted in therapeutic practice, approaches, techniques, and treatment. They cannot prescribe medications for clients, though they often refer clients to psychiatrists for medication management. Psychiatrists are medically trained doctors who specialize in mental health treatment, mainly through medication management and prescription, though they can also practice therapy.
A Psychiatry Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a highly trained and licensed professional who specializes in mental health care. Oftentimes, psychiatrists or psychiatric professionals will perform a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, which involves an in-depth discussion about your symptoms, medical history, and current medications. Some people find comfort, understanding, and even rejuvenation in discussing their problems with a family member or trusted friend. But friends and family don’t typically have the level of education and training in mental health issues in order to make a lasting impact. For that reason, it’s often better to seek counsel from a mental health professional such as a psychiatrist. It can be an important step toward living a happier life.
