About
I believe meaningful, lasting change happens through authentic connection, a collaborative approach and evidence-based care.
Hello, and welcome. I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I am passionate about helping adults navigate anxiety, ADHD, trauma, and life transitions with compassion and evidence-based care. I often work with individuals who feel overwhelmed by worry, burnout, perfectionism, people-pleasing, or the lasting effects of difficult experiences. Together, we'll build practical coping skills, increase self-understanding, strengthen relationships, and create meaningful, lasting change. My goal is to provide a safe, collaborative space where you feel heard, supported, and empowered to move toward the life you want.
My approach is collaborative, trauma-informed, and tailored to your unique needs. Drawing from evidence-based therapies such as CBT, DBT, and Attachment Theory, I help adults manage anxiety, ADHD, trauma, burnout, and life transitions by building practical coping skills, improving self-esteem, and emotional regulation to create the life you want to live.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure where to start, you’re not alone. Healing and growth are possible, and you don’t have to navigate it by yourself. When you’re ready, I welcome you to reach out and take the next step toward a more grounded and fulfilling life.

As a psychiatric nurse practitioner, I have devoted my career to working with individuals who struggle with mental health and substance use disorders and I understand the need to create a warm, nonjudgmental space to discuss issues and also the importance of developing a personalized treatment plan.
I am a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with 13 years of experience treating adults with mental health and substance use disorders in inpatient, outpatient, and residential settings. I earned my ASN from Indiana University and completed my graduate studies there. I understand the importance of providing a safe and nonjudgmental environment where you feel heard and understood. I believe in empowering you to take an active role in your treatment and tailoring care to each unique personality. I am committed to building rapport based on trust, open communication, empathy, and clinical expertise.
As a registered nurse and nurse practitioner, I've learned listening and compassion are as important as treatment. My focus is on mood disorders, grief, insomnia, trauma, substance use, and chronic mental illness, using assessments and medication management. I am both a provider and an advocate committed to making sure you are seen, respected, and empowered.
I'll provide a safe, nonjudgmental environment where we can form a therapeutic alliance and collaborate on a plan unique to your needs. My dedication is rooted in a personal journey: family and friends who have struggled with mental health and substance use. I believe we can create achievable, sustainable goals built on empathy, compassion, and listening.

I am passionate about helping people find hope, healing, and resilience because I believe that when one person transforms their life, the positive impact can extend to their loved ones and future generations.
I am Nubia A. McVey, a dual-certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C) and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with experience in medical and psychiatric care. My approach is centered on treating the whole person, recognizing the connection between physical and mental health. I work with adolescents, adults, and older adults experiencing anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, trauma, ADHD, and substance use disorders. I believe that helping one person improve their mental health can positively impact their family and future generations, making every opportunity to support healing both a privilege and a purpose.
My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and individualized. By combining evidence-based psychiatric care, medication management, education, and supportive counseling, I help clients develop practical strategies for lasting improvement. Clients can expect a nonjudgmental environment where they feel heard, respected, and actively involved in their care.
Seeking help is a sign of strength, and you do not have to navigate life's challenges alone. I'm committed to providing a safe, supportive, and judgment-free space where you can feel heard, understood, and empowered. My goal is to help you find hope, healing, and the tools to create meaningful and lasting change. I'd be honored to be part of your journey.

Life’s struggles should not be battled alone. I promote a relational approach alongside a multitude of therapeutic modalities by meeting people where they are, cultivating a safe space, and empowering people to become agents of change.
I am a licensed social worker (LSW) with 2 years of experience working with adolescents and adults navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, anger, relationship issues, and other life challenges. My approach is warm, collaborative, and focused on building trust so clients can explore their emotions in a safe space. I believe in helping individuals develop practical tools for emotional regulation, communication, and personal growth, while reminding them that healing is a journey, not a destination.
I earned my master’s in social work from Indiana Wesleyan University. My therapeutic style combines a strengths-based, relational perspective with evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and emotionally focused approaches.
Nobody should feel alone in their struggles. My goal is to provide an uplifting and supportive environment where clients can process difficult emotions, build resilience, and move toward lifelong change. I am here to walk alongside you through every valley and mountaintop because it’s never too late to reach out for help.

In Munster, your cost depends on whether you use insurance or pay out of pocket. With insurance, most patients pay a copay between $0 and $55 per session. If you’re self-pay, rates vary by state—typically $200 to $240 for your first therapy session and $160 to $195 for follow-ups, or $300 to $375 for an initial psychiatry session and $210 to $300 for follow-ups. Contact our Munster office or visit our pricing page to learn more.
Yes, Thriveworks Munster accepts insurance to help cover services, including individual therapy, couples therapy, family therapy, and psychiatry. Couples and family therapy aren’t always covered the same way, since some plans only cover sessions considered medically necessary.
We’ll verify your insurance and estimate your out-of-pocket cost for you before your first session, but it’s still worth confirming your specific benefits with your insurer, especially if your plan requires pre-authorization (advance approval from your insurer before certain treatments are covered).
Fit matters more than almost anything else in therapy. Research consistently shows the relationship between you and your therapist is one of the strongest predictors of whether treatment actually works, no matter their approach. Start by thinking about what you want help with, then browse provider profiles in Munster and filter by specialty, insurance, and availability to find someone who feels right for you. If your first session doesn’t click, no problem. You can switch providers anytime, no fees, no hassle.
All three support mental health in different ways. A therapist provides talk therapy to help you work through challenges; a psychologist also provides therapy, but their doctoral training lets them do psychological testing and formal evaluations; a psychiatrist is a medical provider who can prescribe medication.
Thriveworks Munster offers therapy and psychiatry together, so you can get the right type of care—or a combination—in one place. For more detail, see our straightforward guide to mental health care professionals.
Most patients at Thriveworks Munster see a provider within six days. We offer flexible scheduling, including evenings and weekends. Book online or call our Munster office to find the soonest session with a therapist or psychiatric provider.
Yes. Psychiatric providers at Thriveworks Munster can prescribe and manage medication, and many patients pair that with talk therapy from a separate provider. Our team coordinates the two together.
Your first session is mostly about getting to know each other. Your therapist will ask what brought you in, talk through your history and goals, and start shaping a plan for care. There’s no pressure to share more than you’re comfortable with—the first session is a conversation, not a test. Want more detail? Here’s exactly what to expect, step by step.
