Because of my own personal experience with tragic loss and early childhood trauma, I have confidence in my ability to create a safe space that people can enter and feel supported while sharing their vulnerability.
I am a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) with 7 years of experience supporting teens, adults, parents, and families. When faced with trying to find a therapist of my own, I was met with the reality that it is not "one size fits all" and have done my best in creating an open and accepting approach to anyone who is seeking my care with the understanding that if I am not it, we can still work together towards a better impact.
I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) currently seeing clients in Virginia and Washington. I started my career in 2020 and have experience working with adolescents and adults seeking help with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, loss, mood disorders, stress management, and substance use. In my practice, I use person-centered, strengths-based, and solution-focused approaches, with the understanding that each person’s experiences are unique. I strive to work collaboratively with my clients, creating a personalized environment that feels comfortable and supportive.
Building trusting relationships is central to my practice. I work to provide a safe, open, and collaborative space where clients can set and achieve meaningful goals.

I have a firm belief that none of us are perfect and as such we should continually strive to learn from our experiences and be better today than we were yesterday.
I have been in the helping profession for over 25 years and have worked in many different roles during that time. I have worked with children to older adults and all ages in between. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), and have worked with those with anxiety, depression, PTSD, trauma, as well as Bipolar disorder. I prefer to use a client centered approach, in which we would work collaboratively to determine the best course to take in addressing your needs and concerns and helping to decrease problem symptoms.
I tend to lean towards the use of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) in recognizing that the mind has a great effect on one's ability to change behaviors and habits. I also utilize Motivational Interviewing (MI) in an effort to direct and inspire you to realize and bring about change in your own life.
I would be honored to help you work through what you've been carrying and find greater clarity. I bring care and understanding to everyone I work with — and I want you to know that change is possible, including changes you may not have realized you needed yet. Take the next step and schedule a session today to start taking an active role in your healing.
You deserve dedicated time with a mental health professional — it can be life-changing.

Child therapy, also known as counseling for kids, helps young individuals better understand and manage the challenges that affect their mental health. Common challenges amongst kids include behavioral issues, trauma, bullying, depression, and anxiety. All ages of children can attend and benefit from child therapy at Thriveworks Vancouver.
Child therapy works by using multiple techniques tailored to fit the child’s needs based on their age group, their challenges, and the severity of their challenges. It might involve play therapy for younger kids or cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, art therapy, and others for varying ages. In any case, Thriveworks child therapists in Vancouver, WA have the expertise and experience to help kids at their level.
Child therapy is a type of therapy meant for clients within a specific age group, while play therapy is an approach to therapy that helps children with self-expression and stress relief, among others. Play therapy is a technique that is often used in child therapy to help children express what’s running through their minds when they do not have the words to express their thoughts and emotions. It can get children to express what’s wrong, what might be causing unwanted behaviors, or what they might need in a way that is accessible to them so that therapists can then work to treat the issue.
It’s not always obvious when a child should see a therapist for their behavior, though in the midst of challenges like divorce, loss, bullying, and other mental health conditions, it’s often a good idea to seek it out. Common behaviors that can indicate a need for child therapy include separation anxiety, bedwetting (at inappropriate ages), and agitation/excessive irritability — especially if it reaches a point of physical violence.
Cognitive behavioral therapy at Thriveworks in Vancouver, WA is one of the best types of therapy for children. However, it can be administered in child therapy sessions in a variety of ways that are more accessible to young minds, such as play therapy.
Child therapy at Thriveworks is conducted both in person and online by video. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you.
The length of child therapy depends on your child’s needs as well as the goals that you and their therapist might have for them. Generally, child therapy sessions will last for several months.
