About
People who want to climb Mt. Everest and make it back safely often hire a highly skilled guide—frequently one of the famous indigenous people, the Sherpas—to help them find their way and carry some of the baggage. Here, if your daily life is feeling like a long, hard climb up a steep mountain, similar assistance is available in the form of therapists such as myself, who have made that climb hundreds of times, know the way, and are experienced handlers of baggage. If you need a skilled companion, I would be honored to join your expedition.

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with decades of experience supporting individuals, couples, children, adolescents, and families. Throughout my career, I have worked extensively in school and clinical settings, helping clients navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use concerns, life transitions, and relationship challenges. My therapeutic approach is grounded in evidence-based and clinically sound practices, with a focus on empowering clients to identify goals, overcome obstacles, and create meaningful, lasting change.
I strive to help clients build insight, resilience, and practical skills that enhance their overall quality of life. In today’s ever-changing and uncertain world, many people find themselves feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or disconnected.
I offer a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where clients can explore their concerns, feel heard, and move toward healing at their own pace. Clients often describe my style as warm, respectful, and collaborative. I am committed to creating an environment where you feel comfortable, understood, and supported throughout the therapeutic process.

As a queer artist, I harness my creativity to serve my clients.
My name is Autumn, and I was a peer support for 10 years before I became a clinician. I received my master's of social work from Salem State University, and I enjoy working with people who are creative and emotional. I have worked with people managing depression, anxiety, ADHD, trauma/PTSD, bipolar, and schizoaffective disorder. I love to see my clients connecting to social supports, exploring their interests, and building relationships.
My primary focus is on client empowerment. This includes helping to identify environmental factors oppressing your growth and healing, how to navigate imperfect systems to meet your needs, and community building—because healing is not individual work. Healing happens with other people, within communities and relationships. Modalities I use include CBT, DBT, ACT, solution-focused brief therapy, mindfulness-based stress reduction, and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy.
I can't wait to find the spark of inspiration that lights you up and helps you feel confident to follow your heart. Even one session might help you begin making amazing changes.

My go-to approach for treating depression is to assess how the client's depressive symptoms are impacting functioning. I find the best benefit in determining if fatigue and low energy are interfering with activities that would improve mood.
In depression counseling, I teach the following tools:
know a client is making meaningful progress in depression counseling when they are engaging in behaviors that improve mood, having positive, realistic thoughts, and report that they feel better.
Clients can supplement their time in depression counseling by having an evaluation with a prescriber to assess if medication would assist in their ability to engage more fully in talk therapy and in life.
To prepare for your first depression counseling session, you can pat yourself on the back that you reached out for help because you know you deserve to feel better.
Depression counseling can help those with major depression, minor depression, postpartum depression, persistent depressive disorder, and more. The providers at Thriveworks in Lexington, MA will develop a unique treatment plan based on your specific experience, needs, and goals.

Some people decide to reach out for depression counseling because they’ve changed careers and they’re having a hard time coming to terms with it. Some are getting a divorce and don’t know how to handle the many changes in their lives. Some have survived the death of a loved one. Other reasons people seek counseling include addiction issues, low self-esteem, and panic disorders. These can all co-exist with depression.
Maybe you aren’t sure if you’re depressed or just experiencing some feelings of sadness that will pass. The following are common symptoms of depression—do they sound familiar? Are you experiencing these symptoms:
“Depression counseling can help manage these symptoms and move you forward by providing education on what exasperates depression,” explains Genevieve Wicks, a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker at our Lexington office. “Counseling can support you in identifying healthy behaviors such as exercise and social activity that many depressed people struggle to participate in due to the fatigue that often accompanies depression. Counseling can identify negative thinking patterns and replace them with more realistic, positive thoughts such as ‘I’m going to take a walk outside today. It’s hard to find the motivation but I’m going to tolerate a walk today because I know staying inside all day alone will make my depression worse.’ In other words, fake it until you make it. Thoughts and behaviors can precede feelings. Altering your thoughts and behaviors can eventually change the way you feel. Working with a skilled, compassionate counselor can help you recover from depression and feel better!”
