About
As someone who grew up in the field of mental health, I have come to appreciate the therapeutic value of allowing others to express themselves without reservation as well as affording them the respect and dignity they duly deserve.
My name is Elliott Brown, and I am a licensed professional counselor with over 24 years of experience. I enjoy working with adults and children who have a host of issues to unpack: anxiety, depression, trauma, divorce, relationship troubles, work headaches, grieving, and getting older, to name a few. When explaining the process of therapy to clients, I often use the "puzzle analogy": a) you dump the pieces out on the table, b) I help you look for the edges and other patterns, and c) you develop a clearer picture about how the rest of the puzzle needs to be solved.
My approach aims to provide you with a sense of relief in expressing often unpleasant thoughts and feelings, while also helping you recognize the themes embedded within these expressions. In doing so, you may develop a greater awareness of the world around you and, as a consequence, become more resilient in the face of adversity.
Please let me know how I can be of help to you. Life's problems aren't something we have to tackle alone. Therapy doesn't have to look a certain way; sessions can be a time to unwind and talk about whatever you see fit. Above all, I hope that you will leave therapy a more insightful and happier person.

Being a person that has experienced personal struggles, I understand the ability that we have as individuals to learn the right tools to overcome any circumstance, therefore giving way to the ability to lead effective, fulfilling lives.
I'm Leslie Cain, a Licensed Professional Counselor with over twenty years of experience working with people of all ages experiencing life-altering challenges including grief, anxiety, depression, difficult relationships, substance abuse, and poor coping skills. I've found that the trusting relationship between therapist and client helps us uncover unhealthy patterns and reframe our thoughts toward healing. This process isn't always comfortable—our minds resist retraining. True healing comes when we face hard truths about ourselves. With understanding of your goals and commitment, we can create meaningful change.
In my practice, I use several techniques—Person-Centered and Solution-Focused—but I've found Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) most useful. It treats depression, anxiety, substance abuse, relationship problems, and eating disorders by addressing faulty thinking patterns and learned behaviors.
I know that whatever challenges you're facing can feel heavy, but it takes courage and you don't have to carry it alone. I'm here to help you sort through obstacles and move forward together toward joy and peace. You've got this, and I've got you. I can be the flashlight to shine light on your challenges. Schedule your session today!

For over 25 years, I have had the privilege of walking alongside adults as they navigate the most challenging chapters of their lives, with my approach deeply rooted in the belief that no one is defined by their diagnosis.
My name is Mary Harbin, and I am a licensed clinical social worker in the states of Mississippi and Alabama. I work with adults (18+) who are navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and mood instability issues.
I specialize in CBT, EMDR, DBT, crisis intervention, trauma, and grief therapy techniques. My approach is collaborative and client-centered, blending evidence-based methods with a warm, nonjudgmental space to help you build skills, regain balance, and move toward your goals.
My goal is to provide a space where you feel genuinely seen and energized. You have been resilient for so long on your own; let’s shift the focus from simply ‘getting by’ to creating a life that feels hopeful and truly yours. I’d love to hear your story.
You deserve dedicated time with a mental health professional — it can be life-changing.

Family therapy helps families resolve conflicts and strengthen their relationships. It is led by qualified mental health professionals like psychologists, licensed professional counselors (LPCs), and licensed clinical social workers (LCSWs) who have extensive training in family dynamics and group communication.
Thriveworks family therapists in Jackson, MS usually begin by asking what everyone’s goals are for family counseling. Family members may need help with very specific issues or with general relationship functioning. But there are three main purposes in family counseling: to educate, to counsel, and to strengthen. Thriveworks also offers online family therapy and in-person services, so you may all meet in an office together or join a video call from your home depending on everyone’s location and availability.
The most effective form of Family therapy will often depend on the family itself, as there are many types of family therapy for therapists to use as they see fit in order to best meet the needs of their clients. However, one of the most commonly used types of family therapy is structural family therapy (SFT). SFT focuses specifically on family dynamics and interactions, looking at how they shape the relationships and structure present in the family. It can be effectively used to treat a variety of concerns.
This answer often looks different to each family that starts family therapy. However, some signs that your family might need to consider family counseling include frequent fights or misunderstandings, constant tension, experiencing loss, behavioral issues, marital issues, divorce, and blended family issues, among others.
In family therapy, therapists will often start by asking questions and assessing individual and family dynamics. From there, they may employ therapeutic techniques such as structured family therapy, CBT, strategic family therapy, and more depending on the present concerns and conflicts. From there, a therapist will work to open lines of communication between family members and facilitate emotional healing and growth.
Family therapy can be incredibly successful, with some studies reporting a success rate of almost 90% for improving participants’ emotional and mental health, and around 66% for improving their physical health.
Thriveworks therapists in Jackson, MS offer both online family therapy and in-person family therapy. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you.
Family therapy is usually short term and solution-focused, with most families accomplishing their goals in 12 sessions or fewer. However, it can also last for longer if the probles at hand are more complex — and that’s okay, too.
When you struggle to see eye to eye, disagree, hurt each other’s feelings, and walk away from these relationships, it can feel challenging to put the pieces back together.
