While marriage and couple’s counseling is typically recommended for couples who are experiencing persistent or severe relationship issues, any relationship can benefit from attending these sessions.
Marriage and couples counseling at Thriveworks is conducted both in person and online by video. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you and your partner.
On average, couples attend marriage and couples counseling for 12 weeks. However, couples & marriage counseling may last longer or shorter, dependent on the couples’ needs, the challenges they’d like to work through, and the pace of their progress.

If you are experiencing an issue that is interfering with your ability to live your best life together, it might be worth considering a couples therapy appointment. Consider if you need to:
Talking with a professional can open the doors to communication, find the root of obstacles in your relationship, and teach you how to see things from a different perspective. Even if you’re not sure what the exact source of your troubles may be, our mental health professionals at Thriveworks in Helotes, TX can help you figure that out and work through them.
If you are worried about your relationship and you’re willing to do something about it, it isn’t too late. Couples therapy can help provide you with a compass when you have lost your way. Our licensed counselors can help you remember what drew you to your partner in the first place and learn how to cultivate those feelings again.
The first step is admitting you have a problem so you can do something about it. Our licensed professionals are trained to create a safe space for you to express your concerns and listen to what both of you have to say. They will help you open up to each other in an effective way, often teaching you valuable validation and communication skills along the way.
If you find yourself responding or reacting to your partner in ways you don’t like, there may be experiences in your past that are worth exploring. Childhood events, trauma, and even the ways our parents disciplined us can all have lasting impacts on the ways we act and react as adults. A licensed counselor or therapist can help you unpack those layers to find deeper meaning.
Your therapist is an objective observer who can shape questions that will prompt you to think or behave differently. You may be asked to share your current concerns, delve into your past, or focus on external factors that are placing stress on your relationship. Each session is designed to help you move beyond your issues and cultivate a stronger relationship in both the short and long term.
When you and your partner are ready, reach out to us at Thriveworks in Helotes, TX to schedule an appointment.
