As someone who grew up in the field of mental health, I have come to appreciate the therapeutic value of allowing others to express themselves without reservation as well as affording them the respect and dignity they duly deserve.
My name is Elliott Brown, and I am a licensed professional counselor with over 24 years of experience. I enjoy working with adults and children who have a host of issues to unpack: anxiety, depression, trauma, divorce, relationship troubles, work headaches, grieving, and getting older, to name a few. When explaining the process of therapy to clients, I often use the "puzzle analogy": a) you dump the pieces out on the table, b) I help you look for the edges and other patterns, and c) you develop a clearer picture about how the rest of the puzzle needs to be solved.
My approach aims to provide you with a sense of relief in expressing often unpleasant thoughts and feelings, while also helping you recognize the themes embedded within these expressions. In doing so, you may develop a greater awareness of the world around you and, as a consequence, become more resilient in the face of adversity.
Please let me know how I can be of help to you. Life's problems aren't something we have to tackle alone. Therapy doesn't have to look a certain way; sessions can be a time to unwind and talk about whatever you see fit. Above all, I hope that you will leave therapy a more insightful and happier person.

Often, those who are experiencing consistent or near-constant symptoms of anxiety, such as excessive worrying, rapid heart beat, nervousness in social settings, or panic attacks enjoy significant benefits from anxiety therapy.
Like all forms of treatment, anxiety therapy sessions may take more or less time for some clients compared to others. There’s no specific timeframe for how long anxiety therapy treatment will last, although many clients enjoy initial benefits in as little as 2-3 sessions. Your therapist will work with you to develop a treatment plan that follows a timeline to ensure your symptoms are fully addressed.
While anxiety therapy is a general name therapeutic treatment that aims to treat anxiety, specific approaches used to treat anxiety include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), exposure therapy, mindfulness-based practices, and solution-focused therapy (SFT), among others. Ask your provider for further information regarding all possible treatment options for anxiety symptoms at Thriveworks.
In anxiety therapy sessions at Thriveworks, you’ll enjoy a supportive environment where you’ll typically have the option to meet virtually or in person. Your anxiety therapist will assess your mental health symptoms, help you set achievable goals, and teach you new copying skills and techniques to battle and better manage your anxiety.
The symptoms of anxiety, as mentioned briefly in the first question, can manifest physically as sweating, trembling, aches, jaw tension, panic attacks, and lightheadedness. Mentally, anxiety can present as obsessive thoughts, paranoia, irritability, difficulty sleeping, concentrating, and socializing. While these symptoms are normal in moderation, when one or more of the above issues begins to become a recurring issue, talking with a therapist at Thriveworks could offer you significant relief.
While therapy, lifestyle modifications, and relaxation techniques learned in therapy are often sufficient tools for battling chronic anxiety and anxiety disorders, some individuals benefit more from a combination of anxiety medication and therapy. To learn more contact us or ask your provider in the first session about your medication options for anxiety.
