In some cases, lumateperone may worsen mania if you cannot tolerate the medication or your dosage isn't optimal. If you're experiencing mania symptoms, call your provider—it may mean your medication isn't managing your condition.
Does lumateperone (Caplyta) help with anxiety?
Lumateperone is used to treat schizophrenia and depressive symptoms of bipolar I or II disorder—it is not approved for anxiety. However, in some cases, taking lumateperone may improve anxiety symptoms in people who have depressive symptoms with anxiety. Lumateperone is thought to work by improving levels of certain brain chemicals (dopamine and serotonin), which help improve mood.
