My own life experiences as well as my experience working in hospitals has helped me to have tremendous variety with many different age groups and populations, and I will be your personal coach to help you obtain your goals.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and have spent several years in acute and rehab hospital settings, as well as a therapy practice. I have experience with all age groups, individuals, couples, and families. I have learned each of us has our own unique story and sometimes there are challenges we do not expect, or we realize we want to take the next chapter in a different direction. I am dedicated to helping individuals navigate life's challenges with compassion, clarity and confidence.
My therapeutic approach is collaborative and strengths based. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Trauma-Focused CBT, Motivational Interviewing, and Psychoeducation are some of the therapy approaches we may use, depending upon individual needs.
Whether you are coping with anxiety, adjusting to a life change such as divorce or a health condition, or working through trauma or grief, I am here to help you learn new coping skills and strengthen your resilience. Healing begins in a safe and supportive environment, where you feel heard, respected, and empowered. Let's get started!

My personal experience with trauma and loss was the catalyst for a major career change and was completely life altering. From there, I was drawn to a profession in healing. It has given me an authentic understanding of how we are impacted by painful life experiences and the ability to connect with my clients on a meaningful level. My own experiences have made me resilient, something that I wish for is to support my clients in empowerment, and to find their own resilience along the healing journey.
I am glad you are here. I'm Marissa, an LCSW with over a decade of clinical experience in mental health. I graduated from NYU's Silver School of Social Work in 2016 with honors. Prior to becoming a psychotherapist, I worked in law serving underserved populations, but found it difficult to make the impact I wanted, so I pivoted to this more balanced career. I bring knowledge of modalities like psychodynamic psychotherapy, EMDR, DBT, and CBT, along with a broad lens on systems from my law background. I am warm, relational, and love seeing my clients make progress. You will have my undivided attention and a safe space in every session.
My areas of focus include addiction—I've worked in detox, inpatient, and outpatient programs, and served as Clinical Director for two outpatient programs. Addiction and mental health often go hand-in-hand, so I treat both concurrently. I use EMDR for trauma, CBT and DBT for emotion regulation, and a psychoanalytic/psychodynamic approach in sessions.
Please do not hesitate to take this step with me. You will feel safe, heard, seen, assured, and positive in the initial session and following. I invite you to reach out and start your journey with me.

As a man with ADHD and OCD tendencies, I work best with men with ADHD or OCD who somehow “pushed through” climbing the “corporate ladder” only to discover they left their families behind somewhere along the way.
I have 22 years of licensed experience as a professional counselor and supervisor working with men experiencing anxiety, anger issues, ADHD, panic attacks, OCD, and relationship issues. I typically work with men who struggle with ADHD or OCD, are leaders in their fields, but cannot seem to get work done or connect with their families. Generally, these men have anxiety on top of guilt or shame and feel "less than" others in their fields. Oftentimes, they experience anger and resentment in their relationships and may feel like they are treated like a child. If you can relate, you came to the right place!
I use a very interactive approach to counseling — no more "sitting in silence" for 45 minutes! During sessions, I use CBT and short-term, solution-focused therapies to help men see their "stinking thinking" and get motivated to make the changes needed to be a better man. Men leave with homework to practice newly learned skills.
I understand what it feels like to try to "push through" without any results. I also know how difficult it is for men to ask for help. I help men build a framework of solutions that actually work. You will feel understood and gain hope that you can make needed improvements. You see the problem — now take action!
You deserve dedicated time with a mental health professional — it can be life-changing.

At Thriveworks, Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a widely recognized and evidence-based form of psychotherapy or talk therapy. It focuses on identifying and changing negative thought patterns, emotions, and behaviors that can contribute to various mental health issues or challenges that people are struggling with.
Cognitive behavioral therapists specialize in Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and can help you to identify and comprehend your thought patterns, which often encompass automatic negative thoughts, cognitive distortions, and self-defeating beliefs. Once these negative thought patterns are pinpointed, cognitive behavioral therapists aim to challenge and replace them with the objective of fostering more constructive and logical thinking. In addition, these therapists place significant emphasis on implementing positive behavioral changes based on the newly established, healthier thought patterns.
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is particularly effective for addressing conditions like anxiety disorders, depression, phobias, and obsessive-compulsive disorders. It focuses on identifying and modifying negative thought patterns and behaviors, making it well-suited for issues related to distorted thinking and emotional regulation.
At Thriveworks, we accept most major insurance plans, allowing many clients to pay as little as $0–$50 per session with their co-pay. We also offer self-pay options for those out-of-network or without insurance. Self-pay rates for talk therapy range from $160 to $240 for intake sessions and $135 to $195 for follow-ups, depending on your state. For psychiatry services, self-pay intake sessions are $255–$375, with follow-ups ranging from $175–$300, also varying by state. More information on current self-pay costs is available on our pricing page.
The success rate of CBT varies depending on the intentions of the client and their condition(s).
The selection between cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is based on an individual’s unique needs and challenges. CBT is commonly chosen for addressing conditions such as anxiety and depression, whereas DBT is especially beneficial for individuals dealing with borderline personality disorder, emotional regulation issues, and difficulties in interpersonal relationships.
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) with our Thriveworks therapists in Memphis, TN is conducted both in person and online by video. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you.
Generally, CBT is considered a short-term therapy, typically lasting for about 12 to 20 weekly sessions. In some cases, it might extend to around 16 to 20 sessions for more complex issues.
