Award-winning therapy & psychiatry
My go-to approach for online therapy is meeting a client where they are at. While there is the added benefit to in-person therapy of being able to physically be present with your therapist, I find that not much is missed from online therapy. Communication is 55% body language, 38% tone and voice, and 7 % words; as long as we can see one another, we have all the elements for a connection!
I believe that self-awareness is our biggest skill and effective communication is our biggest tool. I focus on building self-esteem and self-confidence through empowerment, boundary building, and conflict-resolution skills.
The way I evaluate meaningful progress from a client is when they tell me this work is hard. Nothing worth doing comes easy or is changed in a few sessions. Our brains are lazy; working with a client through changing habits and thought processes takes time, exploration, and practice without judgment.
My therapy sessions always end with homework, whether it's literal homework, in terms of behavioral charts, for example, creative arts, or more existential. like thinking through concerts, in between sessions. Therapeutic work, in my opinion, does not happen exclusively in the sessions — it happens outside of sessions. The therapeutic setting is meant to explore concepts on a deeper level to then make the next step of practicing those skills and concepts in between sessions.
Making the initial step to set up the session is the most important and most empowering/strengths-based thing someone can do, albeit scary! To prepare for that first intake, remember, you're a rock star already.
With Thriveworks, Online therapy is an effective alternative to in-person therapy services in which a client can speak to a Thriveworks therapist remotely via online video conferencing. Online sessions are just as effective as in-person treatment, but they can also provide added benefits like reduced travel time, saving money on transportation or childcare, and increased access to care.
Online therapy works much like traditional in-person therapy but takes place through secure video conferencing. Clients can attend Online therapy from any safe place they choose that has access to the internet, whether that be their home or another easily accessible place. Like in-person treatment, a therapist will work with their client to address their concerns, create goals, and establish an effective treatment plan.
There is no best option for online therapy—instead, it’s best to focus on finding a provider that meets your specific needs and with whom you can form a professional connection with.
Yes, online therapy is just as effetive for many clients as in-person sessions.
Online therapy can last for a few months to years depending on the goals and symptoms of the client. The treatment process will be unique to each client and lend itself to their specific concerns, which means that the time it takes to treat them will always be different. Timing is also up to the client themselves; they are free to stop therapy whenever they please, especially if they feel they have reached their goals and addressed their concerns.
At Thriveworks, we accept most major insurance plans, allowing many clients to pay as little as $0–$50 per session with their co-pay. We also offer self-pay options for those out-of-network or without insurance. Self-pay rates for talk therapy range from $160 to $240 for intake sessions and $135 to $195 for follow-ups, depending on your state. For psychiatry services, self-pay intake sessions are $255–$375, with follow-ups ranging from $175–$300, also varying by state. More information on current self-pay costs is available on our pricing page.
Everything we want or need can essentially be found online. Looking for a good hairdresser? Work full-time and want to go to school? Have a health issue and need to talk to your doctor? Anything is virtually possible. If you can do all of these things from the comfort of your own home, why shouldn’t you also be able to talk to a counselor or therapist from home?
Whether you’re struggling to communicate with your family, you can’t see eye to eye with your partner, you just lost your job, or your anxiety is back more intense than ever, you could benefit from working with a trusted mental health professional. You don’t have to let the ups and downs of life control your wellbeing. Tack back the reins.
