I have been in and out of therapy (with/without meds) for over 30 years. It really made me happy, something I haven't been in a while, to find people who actually listen and ask questions about your past, present, and how you're feeling. I would highly recommend Thriveworks!!

Thriveworks is full of amazing employees. Even the person that answered my first call was incredible, compassionate and sought out the best possible options for my situation. I've been going weekly 3 months and will likely continue for years!

A wonderful provider. I have never found a counselor who truly listens to everything I have to say. Mark made me feel valued and respected within the first few minutes of our first session. Quickly, I learned he speaks without judgment and really hears what I have to say. He has created a very trusting environment, and for that I am thankful. Knowing I have a standing appointment with Mark is what gets me through the week. I would highly suggest booking with Mark if you struggle with ADHD and anxiety.

ADHD therapy FAQs

How do I know if I have ADHD

It’s important to first remember not to try diagnosing yourself—only trained mental health professionals, such as those at Thriveworks, can perform the necessary evaluations required for someone to be properly diagnosed with ADHD. However, common signs of ADHD in individuals of all ages includes hyperactivity, inability to focus, irritability, difficulty completing sentences or trains of thought, impulsive behavior, and more.

What types of therapy are used to treat ADHD?

ADHD can be treated with cognitive behavioral therapy, family therapy, solution-focused therapy, psychoeducation, mindfulness, and more. While your therapist’s preferred treatment method may vary from other providers, generally speaking, your ADHD therapy sessions will focus on developing coping strategies, time management skills, and behavioral adjustments.

Do I need medication to treat ADHD?

Medication is sometimes preferred as a complimentary treatment option for individuals with ADHD, but it isn’t always required. At Thriveworks, you will have the option to seek evaluation and treatment from both a psychiatric nurse practitioner and a therapist, who will work synchronously to treat your ADHD symptoms.

How many ADHD therapy sessions do I need?

The number of sessions that you’ll attend is entirely up to you, and with your provider’s input and your personalized treatment plan to help guide you, you may require more or less sessions to see significant progress than other clients. This is normal. Because learning new coping skills and behavioral adjustments takes time to understand implement, a certain amount of patience is required when first beginning therapy.

Should I schedule online therapy or in-person sessions?

You can opt to meet at a physical office or from the comfort of your home when you schedule with Thriveworks. The choice is yours; while some individuals prefer the intimacy and tangibility of meeting in-person, others enjoy the freedom and flexibility offered from our online therapy sessions.

How can I schedule my first ADHD therapy appointment?

You can schedule your first ADHD therapy appointment with Thriveworks by contacting your local office by phone, or feel free use to our online booking system. If you give us a call, our scheduling specialists can assist you in finding a convenient time to begin your treatment.
